GPS Navigation?
I'm not really into electronics, but these new things look good GPS navigation. If you want your comments. With How often is it used? what is it? Where to buy it and how I plan to spend?
Stef26 – We have the Magellan RoadMate 300, because it was the revised higher in our price range around $ 350. We bought it shortly before moving to a new area and has been invaluable, because the fact that all the streets by here are numbered. Only the location of the "SW" (before or after the number of street) gives no clue reasonable direction we're headed. The device has worked well. We are able to lock the device, which requires a password on startup, save addresses in the system, which has points of interest (banks, restaurants, etc.) and speaking the directions ( "left out in the 1-point-five miles.") However, Magellan has not made a map of the available update for us and the one that came with the machine is now a year and a half years. So there have been times when I left the car, was a location map and then had to run and look inside Google Maps because the streets are simply not available in the unit. He also directed us to the absence of Dairy Queen, a real frustration when my wife is jonesing for Blizzard. I also went to an access road to the highway that no longer existed. That said, when you do get hopelessly confused in a large city with many one-way streets, it helps to stay the course. Sometimes when you're in the midst of tall buildings, say they may lose the signal (because you can not see satellites), but we've only had this problem when in tunnels and stuff. Because it only connects via the suction cup windshield is illegal in California. It is also something that is concerned about giving someone a reason to get into the car, so I always remove the device and the fixing arm each time the view we left the car, so it is a bit less convenient. If we were to do another, we place much more emphasis on how often the manufacturer offers updates (normally via download from their website). I also look for one that mounts on the bottom board so that (or at least the link arm) is less obvious to people walking through the car. Not always as long as the U.S. market, but they show a sign of things to come … the ability to play MP3, function as a handsfree device for your phone, Get traffic alerts, download map updates wirelessly, etc, etc. The future of this type of device shows great potential for exciting an addict to electronics like me.
